It all begins with an idea. Maybe life would be a little easier for people if they didn’t have to take an entire day off to take care of their car. My wife, a mom to our 3 little girls, did a lot of damage to her car since the kids were born. I didn’t realize, because I worked in an auto shop, but it was because she never had time to get an oil change. If I didn’t mention it to her, she would never do it. She meant to, but she just put it off, again and again. Taking days off, especially with 3 kids, is not easy. Then I realized, she was not the only one. Many of my clients were taking 1/2 day’s, or the entire day off work to come in for an oil change, tire rotation, tune-up, etc. A DAY OFF WORK. That’s terrible. A day off work should be for fun, not sitting in a crappy waiting room, with stale coffee and one TV station. That’s when I decided, I WILL COME TO THEM! My clients could save their precious days off for fun adventures or the occasional sick day, and I would come to them. Whether they are at work, at home, at the store or at park, I would go to them. We can take better care of our cars when it’s easy. And when we take better care of our cars, they will take better care of us!

And the big plus side was that being mobile means little overhead cost. So I passed those savings down to my clients. I’ve had customers who were quoted $2,000 for a repair in a traditional shop, and I was able to do their repairs for $1,200. Clients who told me that they went in for oil changes, and were charged $200; I let them know exactly how much their particular oil and filter cost me (no, I don’t make money on parts), and let them know their fee up front… and it’s NEVER been anywhere close to $200!
